The second suspect wanted in connection to the death of 15-year-old Derrick “CD” Wilson is in custody.

Tonyia McGirt, public information officer with Sumter Police Department, reported that Ja’Hugh L’Goeshay Brukale Martin, 20, of Manning, turned himself in to police on Monday afternoon and was booked at Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Martin faces charges of murder and other possible charges in connection to the death of Wilson, whose body was found in the Hoyt and Nelson streets area on July 25 with what appeared to be a gunshot, according to the police department. Wilson was reported missing on Wednesday, July 24, after being last seen Tuesday, July 23, leaving the home of a relative on Meadow Circle and getting into a vehicle with two unknown individuals.

On Friday, July 26, Sumter Police Department, Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office, Manning Police Department and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division were on scene at the Walmart on Paxville Highway in Manning to try to find Martin, and residents were asked to use extreme caution if they needed to be in the area during the search.

Martin is the second suspect to be arrested in Wilson’s death. On Thursday, July 25, 17-year-old Jaylen Hammett, of Manning, was found at home in Clarendon and taken into custody. He is charged with accessory before the fact of murder and is being held without bond at Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, McGirt said.
