RUTH ANN GEDDINGS BARRINEAU

Ruth Ann Geddings Barrineau, 84, wife of James L. Barrineau Sr., died Monday, May 16, 2022, at her home in Sumter.

Born May 16, 1938, in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Lucius G. and Ruth H. Geddings. She graduated from Edmunds High School in 1956 and was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Sumter.

Mrs. Barrineau retired from Palmetto Orthopedic and Sports Medicine. During her career, she worked for D.E. Turbeville and Associates, T.B.T. Construction and various medical offices in Sumter.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Jimmie, and four wonderful children and their families, Lynette B. Sprouse and husband, Randy H. Sprouse, of Ashburn, Virginia, Lorraine Barrineau of Santa Clarita, California, Jim Barrineau and wife, Stephanie H. Barrineau, of Sumter, and Lyle Barrineau of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mrs. Barrineau has seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Kyle Sprouse and wife, Nicole Sprouse, of Columbia, and son, Luke Velasco; Alexa H. Sanabria and husband, Adam Sanabria, of Longwood, Florida, and daughters, Harper and Harlow Sanabria; Jessica S. Wise and husband, Daniel Wise, of Richmond, Virginia, and daughter, Ruthie Wise; Geddings Barrineau and wife, Lakin Barrineau, of Campbell, California; Dylan Barrineau of Charlotte, North Carolina; Chloe Barrineau of Columbia; and Baylee Barrineau of Charlotte, North Carolina.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lucius and Ruth H. Geddings, and her brothers, Leon, James, Charlie, Marion, Frank, Joseph, Sammy Morris, Robert B. and Vernon.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with Chaplain Nathan Falco officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home prior to the service and at the home following the service.
