RICHARD MERLE WALKER

Richard Merle Walker received his eternal call to heaven on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Mr. Walker was born on Nov. 17, 1934, in Henderson, Iowa. He retired from Kaydon Corp. (now SKF) in 1997 after 28 years of service.

He leaves behind: his wife of 34 years, Catherine; three daughters, Cheryl Scott (Gordie) and Pam Walker, both of Michigan, and Brittany Olson Walker of Sumter; a stepson, Garrett Olson of Texas; one brother, Stanley Walker (Sharon) of Michigan; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Chase Olson.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Westmoreland officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Sumter Baptist Temple - HELP Ministries, 2295 Harper St., Sumter, SC 29153.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
