FITZGERALD, GA. - Rhunette Frazier Jay, 88, widow of Joseph Jay, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.

She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beulah Harvin Frazier. She was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Clarendon County.

She received her formal education in the public schools of Clarendon County and was a graduate of Morris College with a degree in education.

In her youth she attended Providence AME Church and after moving to Fitzgerald, Ga., she joined Macedonia Baptist Church where she was a faithful member.

She was an educator in the public schools of Irwin County for 38 years.

She was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers, Itaska, Herbert, Lincoln, Claudis and Mitchell Frazier.

Survivors include one sister, Mary F. Frazier; one niece, Lillian Frazier, both of Manning; three sisters-in-law, Dora Frazier and Mary Frazier of Manning, and Faye Frazier of Charlotte; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Providence AME Church, 2425 Mallett Road, Manning, with the Rev. Mary F. Rhodes, pastor officiating.

Hall's Funeral Home of Fitzgerald, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
