A Wedgefield man was charged with criminal sexual conduct after reportedly touching a girl under the age of 8 inappropriately.
The incident occurred Monday morning at a North Salem Avenue home, where the suspect, 33-year-old Joshua Morris, was sent to repair a heating and air unit, said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department.
While there, Morris reportedly entered a room where the child was, exposed himself and then touched her.
Morris turned himself in earlier Thursday and was charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, McGirt said. He was booked at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
An investigation is continuing.
