Letter to the editor: Post master at Sumter office needs to clean up office

Posted

The post office here in Sumter has to be the worst in the state of S.C. I go there five days a week to drop off mail and pick up my mail. I usually go between 11 am. and 12 p.m.

I have to park in First Presbyterian Church parking lot because there are no parking spaces in post office parking lot because the post master allows employees to use them. This is not acceptable. The employees should be parking inside the fenced-in area.

My post office box is usually empty on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; this is hard to believe because a company that is our size should have mail every day. The post master also allows panhandling to go on there. Many times I am stopped at the front door of post office and being asked for money. No one wants to be approached at the post office; it makes me feel very uneasy.

Also, me and my wife tried to get a passport there, and that was a joke. It could not be done. We had to go to Columbia post office where it only took about 15 minutes to get our passport procedure done. The post master here in Sumter needs to be fired or clean this mess up!
