Police responding to shooting in Sumter

Sumter police are investigating a shooting at the A&P gas station on Boulevard Road.

Police and a K-9 unit set up a perimeter, and the scene was still active Friday afternoon.

Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department, said no more information is available but will be released as it does become so. She could not determine based on initial information whether there is a danger to the public.

She confirmed the scene was active after the initial shooting incident.
