East Clarendon’s varsity boys basketball team improved to 16-4 overall and 10-1 in region play with 65-51 victory over Kingstree on Tuesday. The Wolverines also beat Kingstree 74-69 in overtime on Jan. 14.

Senior Marquis Pearson led the Wolverines with 19 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Pearson connected on 6-of-12 field goals and 7-of-8 free throws in the contest. Senior Tyjhai Calvin added 17 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and six steals. Calvin is now just 10 points shy of 1,000 for his career.
EC is now tied with Johnsonville at 10-1 in Region 2A-VII action. They host Latta on Friday (Feb. 7), and then travel to Johnsonville on Tuesday (Jan. 10) for a game that may decide the region champion.
