Nominate for Best of Clarendon 2022 readers choice contest now

After a record-breaking campaign in 2021, Best of Clarendon is back, so let the celebrating begin.

Nominations for the annual Sumter Item readers choice contest covering Clarendon County can be made now through March 8 in more than 200 categories. From businesses and professional services to shopping, community events and food and drinks, Best Of serves as a guide to all the great people, places and things the area has to offer.

Categories are truly a cross-section of the community, with winners being named in everything from best auto repair, best thrift store and best orthodontist to best place to go on a date, best teacher and sweet tea.

"Best of Clarendon has quickly become the largest voting contest in Clarendon County, and with as much fun as we had at the red carpet event last year, that growth is sure to continue in 2022," Item Publisher Vince Johnson said. "It's a showcase and celebration of all the people, groups, places and businesses that make Clarendon County great."

Nominations will be approved in the day or two after they're made.

Voting will begin on March 9 and be open through April 6. Anyone can vote once a day in each category. A subscription to The Sumter Item is not necessary to participate at any stage of the contest, from nominating and voting to being nominated and winning.

Winners will be revealed on a date in June that is still being finalized. The initial announcement of winners will be during a red carpet gala, and the magazine featuring all the winners will be inserted into The Sumter Item that week.
