COLUMBIA - The State Election Commission (SEC) is encouraging eligible residents to register to vote or verify their voter registration information in recognition of National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 15.
National Voter Registration Day is a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the importance of voter registration and to encourage voters to review their information ahead of upcoming elections.
“Whether you’ve recently moved, changed your name, or simply want to confirm your registration status, taking a few minutes to review your information now can help you avoid issues later and be prepared for future elections,” said SEC Executive Director Conway Belangia.
Voter Registration Deadlines
Sunday, Oct. 4, is the deadline to register for the Nov. 3 Statewide General Election. Voters do not have to wait until the deadline. Registration can be completed in just a few easy steps.
The SEC is also highlighting stories from South Carolinians through its “Your Voice. Your Vote” campaign, which showcases the many different reasons voters choose to register and participate in elections.
