NATHANIEL R. PLEASANT

Nathaniel Roland Pleasant, son of the late Lucinda T. and Anthony Pleasant, was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Pinewood. He died Dec. 26, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Pleasant; five sons, Nathaniel Pleasant (Kwanda) of Pinewood, Tracy Pleasant of Pinewood, Arthur Pleasant (Mary) of Newark, N.J., Dannie Pleasant of Syracuse, N.Y., and Rodney Pleasant of Carteret, N.J.; and four daughters, Yolanda Manley (Andre) of Charleston, Juanita Pleasant of Pinewood, Grace Charles (Raymond) of Sumter and Norene Taylor of Newark.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at Manchester Elementary School Gym with the Rev. Cokley officiating, assisted by the Rev. Samuel Benjamin, the Rev. Micheal Walters and the Rev. Duwine Sinkler. Internment followed Manning Cemetery.

The remains will be placed in the gym from 1 p.m. to the hour of service.

The family received friends at the home of his wife, 8050 Milford Plantation Road, Pinewood.
