MILDRED M. SMITH

COLUMBIA - Mildred Miller Smith, 53, widow of Tony Anthony Smith, died Jan. 2, 2011, at the Dorn VA Medical Center, Columbia.

She was born Feb. 21, 1957, in Manning, a daughter of Martha Brogdon Miller and the late Everett Miller. She was a 1975 graduate of Manning High School. She attended Texas College in Tyler, Texas. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Savior and joined Rock Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and as an usher. She was employed with Shepherd Conventions Services.

Survivors besides her mother of Manning include a son, Tony Everett Smith of Manning; one daughter, Shenecha Simone Smith of Manning; two sisters, Gloria M. Smith of Sumter and Mary (the Rev. Barney) Dozier of Wilson; one nephew and one niece.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, with the Rev. Jerome McCray officiating.

The family received friends at the home of her mother, Martha B. Miller, 2862 Bradham Road, Manning.
