A Manning High School junior varsity football player tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, thus causing the cancellation of the school’s junior varsity and varsity football games against Lake City.
Manning athletic director and varsity head coach Reggie Kennedy confirmed that it was confirmed at 3 p.m. on Thursday that a JV player had tested positive. That led to a 2-week quarantine of both the junior varsity and varsity football players.
Manning was scheduled to play host to Lake City in the JV game on Thursday. It was to travel to Lake City on Friday for the varsity game.
The quarantine brings an end to Manning’s season. The Monarchs were scheduled to play host to Georgetown on Friday, Nov. 13, but that has been cancelled as well, according to Kennedy.
Manning finishes the season with a 0-6 record.
