BRONX, N.Y. - Liza Mae Manning, 62, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, at Albert Einstein Hospital.

Born Feb. 29, 1948, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Mack Arthur Manning and Lillie Mae Manning. She attended Clarendon County public schools. At an early age she moved to the Bronx with her aunt, Mary Lou Manning. She was employed for years at the NYC Parks and Recreation Department and retired from the North General Home Attendant Agency. She was a member of Walker Memorial Baptist Church, Bronx.

Liza had one brother, Mack Henry Manning, and two sisters, Mary Louise and Bertha Manning, who preceded her in death. Willie Stukes, father of her daughter, Mary Alice Manning-Lambert, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Keisha Manning of Bronx and Mary Alice Manning-Lambert; a son-in-law, Javier R. Lambert Sr.; two grandchildren, Javier R. Lambert Jr. and Amya W. Lambert, both of Charlotte; seven sisters, Gervean Manning of Charlotte, Annie Cantey-Stargill and Ruby (Gregory) Benbow, both of New York, Betty (Wayne) Grady of New Jersey, and Georgia (Willie) Singletary, Corine (James) Billups and Ocie Huggins (John Simmons), all of Summerton; a brother, Willie (Rose) Manning of Thomasville, N.C.; four aunts, Mary Logan and Mary R. Jackson, both of Summerton, Hattie Mae Servance of Jacksonville, Fla., and Gloria Riley of Wilmington, N.C.; two uncles, Acie (Lottie) Riley of Jacksonville, and Willie Thomas Black of Summerton; 14 nieces; 14 nephews; 23 great nieces; 21 great nephews; 10 great-great nieces and nephews; one great-great nephew; Larry DeBerry, father of Keisha Manning; and best friend, Susan Britton, of New York; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William T. Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
