Levan "Hook" Richburg, 49, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, due to an accident in Manning.

He was born March 25, 1961 in Manning, a son of Oree McKinney Richburg and the late Leroy Richburg Sr. He received his formal education at Manning High School. In his youth, he attended Mt. Calvary Fire Baptized Holiness Church. He was one of the musicians for Goodwill Freewill Baptist Church and played for many gospel groups in the surrounding areas.

Survivors are his devoted mother, Oree McKinney Richburg of the home; three brothers, Rommy Richburg of Orange, N.J., Freddie Richburg and Jasper (Christine) Richburg, both of Manning; one sister, Rhunett (Larry) Billups of Manning; two nephews reared as brothers, Michael Richburg and Gary Richburg; five aunts and five uncles.

Services were held Thursday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Goodwill Freewill Baptist Church, Goodwill Church Road, Manning, with Elder R. Trevol, pastor, Dr. Michael Richburg, eulogist, the Rev. Dr. Cokely Richburg, presiding, assisted by the Rev. George Windley, the Rev. K. Smith Jr., the Rev. Ethel W. Sweat and the Rev. Etheline Bethune. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 310 Canal St., Manning.
