LEROY TINDAL

Leroy Tindal was born on March 25, 1954, in Salterstown, S.C., to his parents, Levy and Albertha (Mickens) Tindal. He peacefully departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024, at his home in Sumter.

Leroy attended Salterstown Elementary School. Leroy talked of this being some of the best years of his life and held very fond memories of his childhood in his hometown. During this time, he developed a close bond with his maternal grandmother, the late Lou Ida (Holmes) Mickens. He later came to Paterson, New Jersey, where he graduated from Eastside High School in 1971. He attended Tuskegee University for a period as a student athlete.

Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, June 27, 2024, in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. J. C. Lane, officiating.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 5420 Oakcrest Road, Sumter.
