LEESVILLE - Lamar Frederick "Rick" Proctor Sr., 70, husband of Rita Gabriel Proctor, was granted his angel wings on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020. After battling a neurodegenerative disease for many years, he has been blessed with the ability to walk again in God's kingdom. His last days on Earth were spent surrounded in love from family and friends with his wife always by his side.

Born on Sept. 2, 1950, in Charleston, he was a son of the late George Lamar Proctor and Sarah Hill Proctor Lacross. He retired from Hill Plumbing Co. after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Mr. Proctor was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing and cooking. He was a longtime member of Riverside Hunting Club.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Lamar Proctor Jr. (Janine) of Efland, North Carolina, Lance Proctor (Patricia) of Sumter and Jessica Richbourg (Chance) of North; three stepchildren, Anthony Garza of Sanford, Michigan, Tracy Arledge (Tim) of Bishopville and Richard Gabriel of Waxaw, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Gail Johnson and Tina Griffin.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
