Juanita Avin McDaniel, 80, widow of Richard Lewis McDaniel Sr., died on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at her home.

Born on Sept. 10, 1941, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Orrie T. and Nora McLeod Avin. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church at Oswego and was a member of the Christian Woman's Club for many years. She retired from Rogers Greenhouse.

Survivors include three children, Richard "Ricky" McDaniel (Beth), Sharon Rogers (Stephen) and Ronald McDaniel (Becki); five grandchildren, Bryan McDaniel, Emily McDaniel, Jessica McDaniel, Caroline Rogers and Meredith Rogers; four great-grandchildren, Easton McDaniel, Casen McDaniel, Carter McDaniel and Avacyn Keels; sisters, Hilda Glava, Rosa Lee Griffin and Dianna Turbeville; brothers, Wayne Avin, Louie Avin and Buford Avin; and a son-in-law, Glenn Rogers.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Pritchard and Evelyn Wells; and a brother, O.D. Avin.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tim Whited officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Bethel United Methodist Church and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 5575 Lodebar Road, Sumter, SC 29153.

The family would like to express their appreciation to McKenzie Lowder and family and Mary McDuffie for all of their loving care and compassion.
