SUMTER - Johnny Stukes, 67, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Manning, the companion of Evelena Lucky and a son of the late Willy and Maebelle Young Stukes. He attended Clarendon County public schools.

In his life he sought the need for a personal Savior and joined Salem Missionary Baptist Church. He retired in 2009 from Phibro-Tech.

Survivors are his wife, Evelena Lucky of the home; his children, Glenda Lee and John York, both of Troy, N.Y., Teresa Wells, Tena Jackson, Vickie Horton, Wanda Lucky, Maxine (Yardley) Robinson and Edward (Angela) Lucky, all of Sumter; children reared as his own, Mark Oliver, Tawn (Cornell) Atkins and Drucilla (Harry) Deas; three sisters, Florine Simon, Hester Brogdon and Jeraldine (Amos) Henry; three brothers, Harold Lee Williams, Wilbert Stukes and George Stukes; one aunt, Mary Emma Montgomery; and 38 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Salem Missionary Baptist Church, 320 W. Fulton St., Sumter, with the Rev. William Jefferson, pastor, officiating, the Rev. Lei Ferguson Washington, presiding, assisting Minister Mary Jane Ragin and Minister Daryl Washington. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park, Sumter.

The family received friends at the home, 12 W. Patricia Drive, Sumter.
