John Albert Felder, 71, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

He was born Aug. 26, 1939, in the Davis Station section of Clarendon County. He was a son of the late German and Viola Hammett Felder. He attended the public schools of Clarendon County. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Union Cypress AME Church, Jordan community of Clarendon County. He was employed by James Farm in Jordan and Lee Farm in Alcolu.

Survivors are five sisters, Mary (Mose) Harrison and Hester (Alex) Way, both of Alcolu, Louvenia Felder and Evelyn Green, both of Sumter, and Ruth A. (Willie) Felder of Bridgeport, Conn.; five brothers, Willie (Ernestine) Green of Alcolu, German Felder Jr. of Green Sea, Clyde (Veria) Green of Aberdeen, N.C., James Felder of Baltimore, and Richard Green Jr. of Sumter; two aunts, Susan Wilson of Johnsonville and Everlena of Lake City; and a host of nieces, nephews, others relatives and dear friends.

Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at Hayes F. & LaNelle J. Samuels Sr. Memorial Chapel, 114 N. Church St., Manning, with the Rev. W.J. Frierson officiating, the Rev. James S. Hudley, the Rev. Delbert Singleton and the Rev. David Woods Jr. assisting. Burial followed in Mount Zion AME Church cemetery, Summerton.

The family is receiving friends at the home of his sister, Louvenia Felder, 17 Logan St., Sumter.
