HARRY MOSES JR.

Posted

God called Harry (Bruce) Moses Jr., 56, to rest Wednesday, May 31, 2006, at his residence.

Born Aug. 12, 1949 in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Harry Moses Sr. and Audrey McFadden Moses.

Harry attended elementary school in Sumter County and later moved to Lee County, where he attended and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1967. He graduated from Benedict College with a B.S. in Science/Biology and also had 18 hours toward a master's degree.

At an early age, he joined St. Paul United Methodist Church, Elliott, where he served in many capacities. Later he moved his membership to Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on all of the church choir ministries, including the men's choir. He sang heavenly songs with the "Voices of Heaven" for many years. His joy was singing for the Lord.

Proudly, he had 34 years of dedicated services with the Lee County School District, which included the Adult Education Department, Lee County Correctional Institute and many other mentoring services, before retiring in 2001. However, he returned to his love to mankind as a teacher. Harry's love for children and dedication toward their success was among his goals as a professional instructor.

Harry served several years with the Lee County Hospital when it was operational. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Mr. Moses enjoyed fishing, hunting and, among all others, flowers and plants, animals of all kinds and his last favorite love, the zebra finch birds.

Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Wilson of New York; two sons, Sandino Savalas Moses of Sumter and Talathiel LaBruce Moses of Columbia; four grandchildren, Shakiera Wilson, Christopher Scott, Terrance Stuckey and Asaad Moses; a sister, Ingrid Moses of Bronx, N.Y.; a brother, Clayton (Debbie) Moses of Boyton Beach, Fla.; a special cousin, Sylvia A. Scott; five aunts; two uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

To all of his students of 34 years, "Love, Peace and Happiness." Continue to strive for success. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.
