MANNING - The folks of Clarendon County are joining hands to help one of their own, 6-month-old Connor Brooks, and his fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

"Connor's treatment coupled with future physical therapy and care is expensive," said neighbor and family friend Amy Land. "Let's help out!"

Land said that one treatment for SMA will cost more than $2 million.

A Halloween Golf Cart Parade will be held on Oct. 30 to support "Connor's Army." The money raised from the event will be used to offset Connor's medical expenses. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at the back entrance of the Clarendon County Country Club at Brownwood and Oak Grove Church Road. The parade will pass Connor's home and follow Canteberry Drive through the country club.

Organizers of the parade are asking the community to come out in support of the event by lining the parade route wearing their favorite Halloween costume.

To participate in the Halloween Golf Cart Parade, text your name with the words "Parade Entry" to Caroline Buyck at (803) 460-3026. Donations from participants are encouraged.

Golf carts and other vehicles can be decorated as simply or as complex as you want! The more festive, the better.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place and a People's Choice Award.

After the parade, the golf carts will be parked across the street from 1061 Tanglewood Drive. Votes on the People's Choice Award winner can be cast until 3 p.m. Each vote is $1, and you can vote as many times as you'd like.

Donations can be made along the parade route or given directly to the Brooks family via PayPal at kkdymond or Venmo at @kdbrooks0724.
