NEW ZION - Dorothy Evelyn Coleman "Dot" Morris, 82, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Aug. 17, 1928, in Miami, Fla., she was a daughter of the late James Dwight and Blanche Evelyn Smith Coleman. She was a dedicated mother of four daughters. She contributed countless hours to serving at New Zion United Methodist Church, where she was a member for more than 50 years. She also served her community through work with the American Legion Auxiliary, the American Cancer Society, the Clarendon Mental Health Association, and as a Brownie troop leader. Also known as "Tod" to her family and close friends, she was a former cafeteria manager for Salem School, where she was known for her hot dog chili and she was also famous for her sugar cookies.

She is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Barney) Brewer of Manning, Evelyn (Joe) McLeish of Rock Hill, Karen (Billy) Barfield of Lexington and Marian (Rick) Lindsey of Beaufort; six grandchildren, Marie (Andy) Smith, Robbie (Brooke) Nies, Amy (Mike) Kotek, Jamie (Brittany) Barfield, Amanda (Jared) DuBe' and Jonathan (Jamie) Brewer; and 14 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brianna, Jackson, Becker, Coleman, William, Collin, Hanna, Breanna, Brenly, Alex, Ashton, Hannah and Taylor.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; a sister, Joyce Rigby; a brother, LittleJohn Blanton; and a grandson, Jason Barfield.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at New Zion United Methodist Church with the Revs. Melvin Bell and Gregg Varner officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Ggrandsons, grandsons-in-law and Ray McElveen served as pallbearers.

Members of the Wednesday Morning Growth Group, Elaine Owens, Dr. Clarence Coker, Dr. William Stavrou and Dr. Mayes DuBose served as honorary pallbearers.

The family received friends at the home, 6969 Salem Road, New Zion.
