DORIS A. RANDOLPH

Posted

Doris A. Randolph was born on Sept. 4, 1940, in Bennettsville, to Fannie Mae and John Lee Simmons and departed this life on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

She was a product of the Marlboro County schools, where she played on the varsity basketball team and graduated as valedictorian of Blenheim High School. Mrs. Randolph then attended Morris College in Sumter, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. While at Morris, she met the love of her life, Pastor William S. Randolph.

Mrs. Randolph started her career in education in the Williamsburg County Schools of Kingstree in 1966, and would become one of the first educators to integrate School District 17, serving there for almost 30 years - most of that at Crosswell Elementary School.

Mrs. Randolph also served as the assistant clerk of the Wateree Association, Lower Division, along with Pastor William Randolph. Her additional roles included serving the Young Women's Association on both the association and state levels of the Woman's Baptist Association.

As the vision of her husband enlarged into Shiloh-Randolph Manor in 1978, the physical plant was later expanded to include the new Doris A. Randolph Wing. Mrs. Randolph became and remained the volunteer and resident services coordinator, until her passing.

She leaves to mourn her passing: her three children, Elder Belinda Randolph, Pastor Cedric Randolph and wife, Omega Randolph, and Elder Felecia Robinson. She leaves her grandchildren: Xavier and his wife, Markeisha Randolph, Sheldon A. Robinson, Cleopatra A. Randolph, Fannique E.M. Robinson, Cornelius C. Randolph and his fiancée, Christy Lara, and Catherine J. Robinson-Hogue and her husband, Daniel Hogue; and her great-grandchildren, Macie Lee Randolph and Xavier A. Randolph Jr. Mrs. Randolph also leaves to cherish her memory: her nephews, Fitzgerald Alford and wife and Charles Alford Jr.; and a precious niece, Nikki Alford.

Public viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at O.R. Reuben Chapel, Morris College, 100 W. College St., Sumter, SC 29150.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at First Baptist Missionary Church, 219 S. Washington St., Sumter, SC 29150 with the Rev. George Windley Jr. presiding. Interment will follow in Hillside Memorial Park, Sumter, SC 29154.
