INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - David Gallishaw, 63, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, in Indianapolis.

Born May 25, 1947, in Sumter County, he was a son of Easta Mae Gallishaw Dolford and the late Herbert Lee Turner. He attended Sumter County public schools. In his youth, he joined Clark's United Methodist Church, where he attended faithfully with his mother and grandmother. Mr. Gallishaw spent his early adult life in Sumter, where he was employed by Mayflower Moving Co. and later by Sumter Concrete. In 1970, he met and married Ollie Mae Lewis Gallishaw. This union was blessed with one daughter and four stepdaughters. Later in life, David moved with his daughter, Teresa, to Savannah, Ga., and then to Indianapolis. While living in Indiana, he rededicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and became a member of New Life Worship Center under the pastoral leadership of Pastor John Ramsey.

Survivors include five daughters, Teresa (Verdell) Harris, Thomasina Gallishaw of Indiana, Jackie Lewis, Kathleen Gallishaw and Tameka Gallishaw of Sumter; his mother, Easta Mae Gallishaw Dolford of Cypress; five brothers, Jimmy (Ollie) Gallishaw of Lydia, Butch Gallishaw of Sumter, Kenneth (Regina) Dolford of Cypress, Larry (Shelby) Dolford and Robert Dolford of Hartsville; three sisters, Essie Mae Lewis of Sumter, Dianne (David) McKenzie of Olanta and Annette (Howard) Addison of Cypress; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Lucious (Hattie Bell) Burns, Wisdom (Ada Bell) Albert, Isaiah (Virginia) Cooper of Sumter and John Henry (Deloris) Lewis of Timmonsville; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Lee Turner; his maternal grandmother, Mariah Gallishaw; three brothers, Nathan Gallishaw, Herbert Lee and Willie Dolford; a grandchild, Kelly Harris; and a great-grandchild, Ashadia McCray.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Jackson, officiating, eulogist, assisted by Minister Verdell Harris and Minister Joshua Brand.

The family received friends at the home of his sister, Essie Mae Lewis, 16 Sims St., Sumter.

Interment followed at Clark's United Methodist Churchyard cemetery, Sumter.
