The Sumter County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman Jan. 28 after she reportedly gave birth to a child who tested positive for drugs.

Amanda Nicole Herz, 37, of Camden Highway in Dalzell, was charged with unlawful neglect of a child, said Deputy Adrienne Sarvis, public information officer with the sheriff's office.

A warrant says Herz gave birth to a male who tested positive for opiates, methadone and cocaine on Jan. 14.
