McLeod Health Clarendon blood drive

MANNING - McLeod Health Clarendon, 10 E. Hospital St., will hold a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10. All donors will receive a $20 Visa card.

Heart Walk Kickoff Luncheon

Get help with new IDs, register to vote

MANNING - The South Carolina Election Commission is partnering with the SCDMV to aid individuals with obtaining their REAL IDs as well as registering individuals to vote from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Clarendon County Administration Building's Council Chambers, 411 Sunset Drive.

Officials will also be demonstrating the county's new paper-based voting system.

In order to obtain a REAL ID, individuals must provide proof of identity with either a government-issued birth certificate or valid U.S. Passport, proof of Social Security number, two proofs of current, physical address and proof of all legal name changes.

Fallen law enforcement officers honored

MANNING - The F.E. DuBose Career Center Law Enforcement Services Class has sponsorships available to aid in funding its 2020 Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon that will honor individuals who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the citizens of Clarendon County. Past recipients have included the late Clarendon County Sheriff Randy Garrett, the late Clarendon County Coroner Hayes F. Samuels and the late Clarendon County Sheriff's Office Investigator Holmes Smith.

The goal is $2,000 and will fund the entire costs of the luncheon, including food, door prizes and a plaque honoring an officer who exemplifies selfless commitment and dedication to his/her profession.

Sponsorships are available from the Corporate Level at $1,000 to the Patron Level at $25.

Tax-deductible donations made out to F.E. DuBose Career Center can be mailed to: F.E. DuBose Career Center, c/o Law Enforcement Services, 3351 Sumter Highway, Manning SC 29102.

Clarendon Recreation Department registration open through Feb. 14

MANNING - The Clarendon County Recreation Department, 3057 Raccoon Road, will hold registration for T-ball, coach pitch baseball, baseball and softball through Feb. 14 at its Manning location, as well as its Smith Field office, 1380 Gamble Road in Turbeville.

Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 3057 Raccoon Road and from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the 1380 Gamble Road location.

When registering, the following are needed: child's birth certificate, $40 registration fee with a debit/credit card processing fee added and the parent's signature on the registration form. There will be a late fee of $5 assessed on any registration forms accepted after Feb. 14.

Harvin Clarendon County Library to host Library Book Club on Feb. 24

MANNING - Susan Higginbotham's Hanging Mary will be the book discussed from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Harvin Clarendon County Library's Library Book Club meeting. The meeting is free to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Dancing with the Monarch Stars on Feb. 22

MANNING - The Manning Athletic Club is presenting Dancing with the Monarch Stars at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple St.

Tickets are $10; children aged 10 and under are admitted free. All proceeds will benefit the MAC Scholarship Fund and Monarch athletics.
