Carlo Spry Peterson, 64, widow of John Peterson Sr., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital, Manning.

Born April 23, 1946, in Paxville, she was a daughter of the late Freddie and Emma Lee Hankins Spry. She attended Clarendon County public schools. At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Zion Hill Baptist Church and later joined Macedonia Fire Baptized Holiness Church and served faithfully.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy "Tony" Spry of Paxville and John Peterson Jr. of Manning; two daughters, Lillie Ruth Peterson of Columbia and Mary Lois (Edward) Lucky of Baltimore, Md.; three aunts, Cassie Hill, Beulah Cole and Ruth Ann Collins; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the funeral home with the Rev. Annie L. Riley, eulogist, officiating. Burial followed in Manning Cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 201 E. Hospital St., Apt. 2D, Manning.

GEORGE POMPEY Jr.

GREELEYVILLE - George Pompey Jr., 79, husband of Lottie Brock Pompey, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.

Born Feb. 6, 1931, in the Pompeytown section of Clarendon County, he was a son of the late George Sr. and Mattie Mouzon Pompey. He attended Clarendon County public schools. In his youth, he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined Pine Grove AME Church. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 25 years of services.

Survivors besides his wife of the home include a daughter, Georgia Pompey of the home; five sons, Jerome (Carolyn) Pompey, Jasper (Vanessa) Pompey, Alfreddie (Sharon) Pompey, Alford and Clifford Pompey, all of Greeleyville; one grandson reared as his own, Jermel Jones; five sisters, Stella (Arthur) Robinson, Geneva Johnson, Lillie Mellison, Ann (Archer) Jones and Eloise (Jeff) Brown; one brother, Johnny (Mary) Pompey; five grandchildren; and a step-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Pine Grove AME Church, 7999 Kenwood Road, Greeleyville, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery.

The family received friends at the home, 1887 Pompeytown Road, Greeleyville.
