PLANTATION, Fla. - Betty T. Preston Parker died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Westside Regional Medical Center in Plantation.

Born in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late Furman and Linda Reid Thames. She attended Clarendon County public schools. During her youth, she joined Mount Zero Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Alex Parker Sr.; five daughters, Melissa, Tracey, Terry, April and Patricia; three sons, Marvin (Joanette), Alex Jr. and Percy Berry; three sisters, Julia Mae Chatman of Manning, Hannie M. Beaman and Elease Selman, both of Boston, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a special granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Mount Zero Baptist Church, Paxville, with the Rev. Henry K. Presley, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Terry Johnson, Minister Lillian Wright and the Rev. Ruth Pugh. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

The family received friends at the home of her sister, Julia Mae Thames Chatman, 531 Skyview Drive, Manning.
