AVIS GOODSON DOMINY

Avis Goodson Dominy, 96, widow of Richard Lee Dominy III, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at the home of her daughter.
Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Hartwell Goodson and Pearl A. Hunt Goodson.
Mrs. Dominy was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Neal Riley of Sumter and Patsy Thornhill (Jake) of Myrtle Beach; a stepdaughter, Cheri Sifinski (Robert) of Florida; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Neal B. McLendon; a son, Richard L. Dominy IV; four brothers, B.H. Goodson Jr., L.F. Goodson, Glenn Goodson and Billy Goodson; and four sisters, Gladys Richardson, Ruth Ross, Addie Leese Sanford and Dorothy DeCoursey.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church, with Rev. Jake Thornhill and Rev. Dr. Steve Williams officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church and other times at the home, 1327 Shoreland Drive.
