AMBROSE T. MALLETT

PUEBLO, Colo. - Ambrose Tucker Mallett, 64, husband of Rama Beims Mallett, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Sangre-de-Cristo Hospice Care Facility, Pueblo.

Born Aug. 24, 1946, in Philadelphia, Pa., he was a son of the late Ambrose Albertus "Bert" and Catherine Perkins Mallett. He was raised by his late grandmother, Dahlia "Plummie" Burgess Mallett. He was a graduate of Manning Training School, after which he attended South Carolina State College and Morris College. Ambrose served honorably in the U.S. Army and was discharged in 1978. He was employed with the city and county of Denver, Denver Health Medical Center and Broad Walk as a certified addiction specialist and mental health counselor for 14 years. He retired in 2002.

Survivors besides his wife of the home include a daughter, Stephaine (John) Kirkland of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Ida McCollough of Manning; two brothers, William (Ruth) Mallett of Manning and James Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother-in-law, John McGriff of Manning; and three grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Providence AME Church, P.O. Box 296, Manning, SC 29102.
