Five of six wanted suspects in an armed robbery on West Patricia Drive are now in custody with one still at large.
Jaquante Montgomery, 22, of West Patricia Drive, turned himself in to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday after 14 days on the run, according to Maj. Randall Stewart.
Montgomery and five other suspects are charged for allegedly luring two victims to 38 W. Patricia Drive on Oct. 13 and then robbing them at gunpoint, Stewart said. One victim was shot during the robbery and taken to the hospital but has since been released.
Montgomery was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Stewart said. He remains at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for Friday morning.
One suspect, Chryshaun McKenzie, 17, remains at large, Stewart said.
Sheriff Anthony Dennis asks his family and friends to urge him to “do the right thing and turn himself in.”
The sheriff’s office has offered McKenzie 24 hours to voluntarily turn himself in or the wanted status could be referred to the United States Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force for assistance, Stewart said.
