5 arrested in Sumter home with 150 grams of drugs

Five people were arrested Friday after Sumter County deputies found methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana in a mobile home while executing a search warrant.

Those arrested are Rakim Alphonso Butler, 28, of Carver Street; Carl Maurice Laney, 37, of Saratoga Street; Hikeem Antonio Ward, 21, of Walker Avenue; Billy Ray Watford, 37, of Pratt Avenue; and Jessica Lee Evans, 36, of Meadow Circle. According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, all five face multiple drug charges including trafficking, possession with intent to distribute and manufacturing.

Butler, Laney and Ward also each face additional charges for possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Deputies seized about 90 grams of methamphetamine, 33 grams of marijuana, 18 grams of cocaine, 8 grams of crack cocaine, various other drugs, drug paraphernalia and three firearms from a residence in A & J Mobile Home park.

Evans remained in jail at the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center as of Monday afternoon on a $15,000 bond. According to public inmate records, her next court date is set for Oct. 4.

Watford has bond set at $17,125, which he had not yet posted as of Monday afternoon. His next court date is also scheduled for Oct. 4.

Bond was denied for Butler, Laney and Ward.
