A fourth suspect has been taken into custody in connection to the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Derrick Wilson.

Cedric Wright, 20, of Sumter, turned himself in to Sumter Police Department on Friday evening, Aug. 9, according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the department. He was booked at Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Wright is the fourth suspect to be arrested in connection to the killing of Wilson. Wilson's body was found in the Hoyt and Nelson streets area of Sumter, two days before what would’ve been his 16th birthday. He had been shot, according to McGirt.

Suspects Jaylen Hammett, 17, Ja’Hugh Martin, 20, both of Manning, and Keonte Jackson, 21, of Sumter, were all taken into custody. Hammett was charged with accessory before the fact of murder and Martin was charged with murder, McGirt said.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges and arrests are possible.
