3 arrested in connection with armed robbery at Days Inn in Manning

MANNING – Two men and a woman were arrested Wednesday afternoon after they allegedly robbed the Days Inn, 2825 Paxville Highway, at gunpoint.

Kevin Wayne Capell, 38, was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy. Joshua Lee Causey, 39, was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy and use of a weapon during a violent crime, and Rachel Willard, 31, was charged with armed robbery and conspiracy.

About 5:17 p.m. May 25, two masked individuals, one of whom was armed with a firearm, allegedly entered the Days Inn and robbed the clerk of a cellphone and $380 in cash.

Officers with the Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office and the Manning Police Department who arrived on scene within minutes of the robbery were given a description of the suspects’ clothing and the vehicle they were driving.

CCSO deputies located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used in the robbery as well as three individuals in a wooded area on AM Nash Road, less than a mile from the motel.

The Clarendon County Article Search K-9 was deployed near the vehicle and recovered a firearm, the stolen cellphone and some of the clothing the suspects were wearing.

Capell, Causey and Willard were transported to the Clarendon County Detention Center. A bond hearing was held on May 26. All three individuals were denied bond.
