The Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce will launch a new initiative, the Lunch & Learn Series, designed to educate, connect and inspire the local business community. The first installment, "Connecting Community Through CarePortal," will take place on Wednesday, June 25, at the Chamber office.
This inaugural Lunch & Learn will feature Crosswell Home for Children, the local implementing partner of CarePortal in Sumter County. CarePortal is a real-time technology platform that connects child-serving agencies with local churches and community members to meet the urgent needs of children and families in crisis. From delivering a crib to providing groceries or transportation, CarePortal empowers everyday people to make a real difference.
This session will explore how CarePortal is preventing unnecessary foster care placements, stabilizing families and building a stronger Sumter - and how businesses and individuals can get involved. Attendees will also learn more about Crosswell's broader mission in foster care and residential group home services.
Speakers will be Kelly Rowell, Crosswell director of Family Services, and Jess Kaneft with Crosswell Program Support and Development.
Schedule will be as follows, with lunch provided: 11:45 a.m.-noon, open networking; noon-1 p.m., program; 1-1:15 p.m., networking.
Space is limited - RSVP required. Chamber members, free (member benefit - registration open now); public, $25 (registration opens June 2 - based on availability).
