1 dead, 2 injured after 2-vehicle wreck on Broad Street in Sumter

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker has released the name of the victim  involved in the fatal wreck on Broad Street on Thursday afternoon.

At about 3:25 p.m. on July 3, four occupants in a 2020 Ford SUV were traveling North on  Loring Mill Road and attempting to cross traffic while the driver of a 2024 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling East on Broad Street.  The motorcycle driver struck the 2020 Ford SUV, according to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Two occupants in the SUV were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Robert Clark, 31,  of Sumter, the driver of the motorcycle, was pronounced dead on scene from injuries he sustained in the wreck, according to Baker. 

Next of kin has been notified and an autopsy has been scheduled for next week at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. 

An investigation is ongoing  by South Carolina Highway Patrol and Sumter County Coroner's Office.
