The desire to help: Sumter donations fill 24 flights to hard-hit N.C. city

Volunteers unload donated supplies from a plane flown from Sumter to Spruce Pine, North Carolina, to help after Hurricane Helene devastated the area. People in Sumter donated 6,000 pounds of supplies for the people in Spruce Pine, and it was flown in 24 round trips over several days this week by volunteers leaving from Sumter Airport.
