William "Billy" Caples Sr., 78, beloved husband of 59 years to Kitty Louise Barnes Caples, passed away on Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Born in Bishopville, he was the son of the late James Sidney Caples Sr. and Blanche Scott Caples. Billy was the owner/operator of Pro-Glo Auto Collision Center in Sumter. The most loving, caring man, he always wanted to help people in need. But most of all he loved and cared for this family. He loved his momma and wife dearly; his four children were his heart. He always wanted to treat his customers with kindness and respect. He had the biggest heart. Over the years of running his business, he made so many close-to-heart friends. He was a retired state constable and a retired member of the Spring Hill Masonic Lodge. Billy enjoyed racing, whether it was watching NASCAR or helping his son with his dirt track racing. His true joy in life came from spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Kitty, he is survived by two sons, William "Billy" Caples Jr. (Michelle) and Terry Wayne Caples (Casey), both of Sumter; two daughters, Rachel Robin Geddings and her husband, Blake, and Alexis Caples (Coleby), both of Sumter; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Caples of Sumter; a brother, James Sidney Caples Jr. of Sumter; 16 grandchildren, Maddison Caples, Spencer Caples, Katelyn Caples, Dillon Clark, Natilie Clark, Jessica Kelsey, Brandon Caples (Sarah), Terry Caples Jr., McCall Campbell (Jonathan), Megan Rembert (Brian), Zachary Geddings (Samantha), Ronnie Geddings, Chris Geddings, Stephanie Eitzman (Adam), Dustin Geddings (Jennifer) and Charleston Newman; two very faithful employees, Mellody Brown and Ginger Powell; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Louis Caples, J.D. Caples and Bobby Caples; and three sisters, Mae Turner, Myrtle Brown and Carlene Strickland.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. in Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Mosier officiating. The interment will immediately follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Campbell, Brandon Caples, Spencer Caples, Terry Caples Jr., Billy Coursey and Coleby Newman.

The honorary pallbearer will be U.S. Army Lt. Zachary Geddings.
