The University of South Carolina baseball team will face North Carolina Wilmington today at 1 p.m. in the championship round of the Greenville regional of the NCAA tournament in Greenville, N.C.

The game was originally scheduled to be played on Sunday, but was moved to today because of a 5-hour weather delay in the elimination game between UNCW and No. 1 seed East Carolina. Wilmington topped ECU 9-7 to advance.

The Gamecocks, who are 35-24 on the season, need just one victory to advance to the super regional. UNCW, which is 39-22, needs to beat Carolina twice to advance. If a second game is needed, it is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start today.

The winner of the Greenville regional will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to face Arkansas in the super regional. Arkansas swept through its regional, closing it out with a 4-3 victory over Dallas Baptist on Sunday.

David Sheaffer and Zack Canada each drove in two runs during UNC Wilmington's 9-run fifth inning.

Sheaffer hit a 2-run single two batters before Canada's 2-run double to left made it 9-5 and capped the big inning that pushed fourth-seeded UNC Wilmington into the championship round.

Alec Burleson had a run-scoring single and Connor Litton followed with an RBI groundout in the seventh for the Pirates (44-18).

Reliever Blake Morgan, who pitched the final four innings, retired seven hitters in a row before walking Jake Washer to bring the tying run to the plate with two outs in the ninth. He got Burleson to ground out to end it.
