Sumter County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred about 12:15 a.m. Thursday at a home in the 100 block of Brentwood Drive. Deputies found two wounded men in the front yard of the residence after responding to a report of a burglary in progress.

One of the victims, who had apparently been shot in the neck and transported to Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia by helicopter, was listed in critical condition this morning. The second victim was transported to Tuomey Regional Medical Center for treatment by Sumter County Emergency Medical Services.

During the preliminary investigation, officers found signs of both a struggle and gunplay inside and outside the home. Shell casings from multiple weapons were recovered at the scene.
