Letter to the editor: Thank you to caring community for help, patients who shared lives

Posted

My late wife, Connie, and I, both Sumter natives, were excited when I was able to begin medical practice here in our hometown in October 1967. And how fortunate we were to raise our family here!

We often hear that the years go by so quickly. With mixed emotion, the time for me to retire finally came on Feb. 27, 2024. As stated in Ecclesiastes, "there is a time for everything."

Along the way I had the good fortune to be able to borrow from several local individuals, and completing medical school may not have been possible without multiple loans from the Sumter Rotary Club. This speaks of the caring community we live in.

It has been a blessing to live here and to share friendships with so many fine people and families.

Finally, my sincere appreciation to the many patients from Sumter and the surrounding areas who through the years have shared their lives with me; I will remain forever grateful.
