LYNCHBURG - James Bradley "Jim" Tallon Jr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020.

A private service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday on the steps at the Presbyterian Church, Lynchburg. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Tallon was born in Darlington County, a son of the late James Bradley Tallon Sr. and Meda Randolf Tallon. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, serving with the 64th FIS. He was a member of Lynchburg United Methodist Church. "Cowboy" was a deputy sheriff with the Lee County Sheriff's Office. He was the owner of a crop dusting service. He was the past president of American Legion Post 140 and the Blue Knights, Fraternal Order of Police; a member of the Cut Rate Drug Store Hangout Crew in Sumter; and he was the official "piccolo player" for the choir of Lynchburg United Methodist Church. Jim loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and riding his motorcycle.

Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Penny Hickson Tallon; son, Trey (Kat) Tallon III; daughter, Jenny ( Patrick) McGee; sister, Miriam Tallon Swiler; grandchildren, Gillian McGee, Connor McGee, Bradley McGee, Krista Tallon and James Bradley "Q" Tallon IV; several nieces and nephews; and his feline companion, Snowball.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Ann Caban.
