WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Donald Edwin Thompson, 80, of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
Donald was born on Feb. 1, 1937, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, to the late Edwin and Dorothy Piepho Thompson. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a ROTC commission. He went on to serve our country proudly in the United States Air Force for more than 24 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1984 from Shaw Air Force Base. Donald enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Richelle Diane "Shelly" Thompson; his sister, Darlene Stadsvold and husband, Byron; his children, Gregory and wife, Amy, Scott and wife, Gena, Keith and wife, Jessika, and Remi and husband, Robert; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
