AUGUSTINE W. PETER

Augustine “Gopi Bhai” W. Peter, age 91, beloved husband of 57 years to Lilian A. Peter, died on Friday, April 5, 2024, at his residence.

Born in Ahmedabad, India, he was the son of the late Wycliff Peter and Margaret Shastri Peter.

Mr. Peter worked in the banking industry and was an entrepreneur. He was also an educator in Sumter School District, where he taught at Furman High School and Manchester Elementary School along with teaching at Morris College. Mr. Peter was a member of Faith ARP Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend.

In addition to his wife, Lilian, of 57 years, he is survived by his son, Bernard Peter of Greenville.

Mr. Peter was preceded in death by four brothers, Frederick Peter, Albert Peter, Stanley Peters and Julius Peter.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
