Annie Mae Wilson Evans was born on April 4, 1933, in Lee County, a daughter of the late Robert and Phillis Wilson. She departed this earthly life on Monday, Feb. 19, 2024.

She attended Lee County public schools. At an early age, she joined King Emmanuel Baptist Church and later joined Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. She worked many years at Zimac Inc. in Lynchburg. She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Robert James Evans, and to this union seven children were born.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Jr. and Nathanial Evans; two brothers, Willie and Robert Earl Wilson; and one sister, Clara Carter.

Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Carrie Evans of Sumter and Linda (Bruce) Givens of Bishopville; son, Micheal (Cindy) Evans of Lynchburg; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dollie Westbrook of Newson, Virginia, Deloris (Ernest) Miller and Lucille (Deso) Laws of Sumter; one brother, Walter Wilson of Lynchburg; one aunt, Rosa B. Taylor; two special cousins, Veronica Wheeler and Anaela Fullard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

In accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines, the family is requesting face masks and social distancing be observed by relatives and friends during visitation at the home, 14 Franklin St., Lynchburg.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday at the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church, 418 Main St., Lynchburg, with the Rev. Dr. Sammie D. Simmons, pastor and eulogist.

The procession will leave the home at 11:20 p.m.

Burial will be in the Bethesda Memorial Garden, Lynchburg.
