Anderson man, Sumter woman arrested on drug, other charges
A man and woman were arrested on drug and other charges after county authorities executed a search warrant at a Broad Street motel on Nov. 28.
Gabrielle E. White, 21, of 39 Barnette Drive in Sumter, and Scott R. Clinkscale, 34, of 203 Miracle Mile Drive in Anderson, each face three charges after suspected meth- amphetamine, heroin, marijuana, scales and a firearm were found in their motel room.
"An officer spotted Miss White going into the room and knew she was wanted by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office," said Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis. "We obtained a search warrant and, as a result, both Miss White and another defendant, Scott Rayeshun Clinkscale, were taken into custody."
During the search, deputies seized: a clear plastic bag containing $35 in cash and 78.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine; suspected heroin wrapped in money found in White's bra; a red bag containing $581 in cash and suspected marijuana; two cellphones; Buprenorphine pills, a Schedule III drug; a white box containing suspected marijuana; a black 9mm Glock 19 handgun with loaded magazine; a black digital scale along with suspected marijuana; a red straw with residue; and miscellaneous papers with both phone numbers and currency written on it.
White is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a weapon during a violent crime; and Clinkscale is charged with trafficking methamphetamines, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Both White and Scott are being held at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
"The residents of Sumter are a little bit safer today because these drugs - and individuals - are off of our streets," Dennis said. "I want to commend our officers for their diligence in carrying out this search and ultimately the two arrests, without incident."
"The war on drugs is far from being over," he said. "But we're going to work just as hard as the drug dealers to prevent any of these drugs from reaching our streets."
