The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help in locating a subject who is alleged to have attempted to sexually assault an 11-year-old girl Tuesday afternoon.

About 3 p.m., the girl was home alone in a residence in the 2600 block of Tindal Road when a man broke in and attacked the child. She was able to escape and the man fled.

The man is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years old with blond hair. He has tattoos on his upper left arm and right forearm. He was last seen wearing black pants, brown boots and a black T-shirt with either a bird or wing design on front.

The suspect fled in a red pickup truck with silver tool boxes on each side. The truck was said to have scratches on both sides.

Anyone who spots this person should not approach him but should call 911 immediately.
