2 Sumter teams win at USSSA Super NIT Warmup Weekend

Two local teams, the Sumter Cardinals and the Sumter Cubs, came away as champions in their respective age divisions, BBboys9AA and BBboys11AA, in the USSSA Super NIT Warmup Weekend held April 13-14 at Patriot Park Sportsplex in Sumter. Sixteen teams from numerous cities across the state attended the tournament. The USSSA Under Armour Championship Series will be held May 18-19 at Patriot Park. The park is one of the the original Penny for Progress projects. According to Sumter County's website, Sumter County hosted the Dixie Youth Softball World Series in 2017 at Patriot Park, which brought in 42 teams from 11 states.
