COLUMBIA - Lauren Ashley Wright of Summerville and Roger McSwain Armfield II of Sumter were united in marriage at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Shandon United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Brian Wheeler of Mount Pleasant and Mr. Douglas Edwin Wright of Mount Pleasant. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. William Adrian Hancock and the late Mr. Hancock of Columbia and Mrs. Quitman Marshall Wright Sr. and the late Mr. Wright of Columbia. She graduated from Summerville High School in 2009, from the University of South Carolina in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and from Midlands Technical College in 2018 with an Associate in Nursing. She is a registered nurse employed by Prisma Health Midlands Heart Hospital in Columbia.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger McSwain Armfield Sr. of Sumter and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Benjamin Harley Sr. of Barnwell and the late Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Meyer Armfield of Allendale. He graduated from Wilson Hall in 2006 and from The Citadel in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He is a civil engineer employed by AECOM in Columbia.

The Rev. Clarence Ean Kanipe Jr. officiated at the ceremony.

Music was provided by Mrs. Deborah Katherine Bauer, organist; and Mr. Wilson Coleman Hancock, pianist.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a cathedral veil edged in alencon lace and a Legends by Romona Keveza gown with a silk shantung circle skirt and an alencon lace bodice adorned with illusion cap sleeves. She carried a garden-inspired bouquet of garden roses, ranunculus, sweet pea, peonies, delphinium, spirea and jasmine.

Annie Elizabeth Wright, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Harley Armfield, sister of the bridegroom, Alice Bethany Hancock, Chelsea Tate Littleton, Mrs. Emily Burns Morgan and Mrs. Jessica Jones Summer.

The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. William Asa Rhody Allbritton, Mr. Christopher Leon Evans, Mr. Griffen Bonner Greene, Mr. Ryan Andrew Hulme, Mr. Kyle Lea Janney and Mr. Felder Wayne Poplin III. Ushers were Mr. Preston Michael Gainey, Mr. William Hugh Hancock, Mr. Joshua Michael Harley, Mr. James Edward Teal III and Mr. Arthur Murray Wood II.

Also participating were Clara Dianne Person, crucifer; and Ann Wood Person and Makenna Grace Wood, greeters.

The reception was given by the bride's parents at 701 Whaley in Columbia. Guests were greeted by Dr. and Mrs. William Ben Harley II, aunt and uncle of the bridegroom.

The bridegroom's parents held the rehearsal party at Stone River in West Columbia. Guests were greeted by Lt. Col. and Mrs. John Francis McInerney.

Following a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple will reside in Columbia.
